Britney, Renee, Kirstie In Focus
Tabloid presses are humming, as three big show business names are making tongues wag.
People magazines senior editor and The Early Show entertainment contributor Jess Cagle says Britney Spears has confirmed to People that she'shad her baby, a boy. Her Web site also has that word.
"It was earlier than we expected," Cagle
co-anchor Rene Syler. "It was by C-section. But she said everybody is healthy and happy and doing very well. We're waiting on her to say more. We're waiting on baby pictures and all that kind of stuff."Spears hasn't said what the baby's name will be, but there are reports Spears and husband Kevin Federline have decided on Preston.
Cagle also discussed Renee Zellweger decision ro file for an annulment of her marriage to Kenny Chesney.
He called it "very surprising, and yet not. These were two people who knew each other for four months. They got married. The marriage only lasted four months. …She filed … claiming fraud. That was the reason that she gave, which in legalese means that he misrepresented himself or a promise was made that wasn't kept.
"So I think there is going to be a lot of speculation that you'll see about that.
"I mean, if you know Rene Zellweger at all, you really do wish her the best. It is sad that this didn't work out.
"I don't think either of them are going to say much about this. I think it will always be sort of a question about what exactly happened. And she's not someone that enjoys being in the press like this at all. So I hope that she gets through it and we're all reasonably respectful of what's going on."
Cagle also noted that Kirstie Alley has managed to lose lots of weight, 50 pounds and counting, adding: "She looks amazing. I think she is going to lose 30 more pounds after this."
And Cagle says Alley went about it somewhat unconventionally: "She did not want to go to a personal trainer. She was doing the Jenny Craig stuff. We've all seen her in the commercials. So she was following that diet. But, instead of exercising, she'd call a friend over to the house and they'd just dance for 45 minutes, several times a week. She'd turn up the music; she would dance."
People says Alley stuck to a 1,200-1,500 calorie-a-day diet, eating prepackaged foods.
"She'd call restaurants ahead and find out what low-calorie stuff they had before going.
"And, before the July 4th celebration -- this is a great trick -- she decided, I think with her Jenny Craig consultant, what she was going to splurge on: 2 corns on the cob, 2 cookies, that was it. I think it's a great idea."
