Braves fan's fatal fall at Turner Field ruled suicide

ATLANTA Investigators in the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office say the death of a man who fell over a railing at Turner Field has been ruled as a suicide.

Investigators said Thursday that they discussed the death of 30-year-old Ronald Lee Homer Jr. with his family last week before releasing their findings to the media.

Homer, of Conyers, died after police say he fell about 85 feet from a walkway on the fourth level of the baseball stadium after a rain delay during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies in mid-August. Police have said Homer landed in the players' parking lot.

Police have said no foul play was suspected in Homer's death, and no surveillance footage of his fall was available.

Investigators said they couldn't disclose additional details about Homer's death.

Homer's mother said last month that her son called her shortly before the accidentto say that he was preparing to head to his seat after a rain delay.

Homer spoke with his mother by cellphone as he and other fans waited for the rain to let up. In that conversation, he said the rain was beginning to slack off and indicated he was preparing to go to his seat.

"He said 'I love you mom, and I said 'I love you too' and that was it," his mother, Connie Homer, said in an interview.

Last month, Homer's family criticized Turner Field's safety measures, CBS Atlanta reported.

"You have a little rail this big and then somebody who is 6'7. It's something that should have never happened," Ronald Homer Sr. said.
