Boyfriend charged with murder in Fla. woman's August death

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- A South Florida man has been arrested and charged with murder in the August death of his girlfriend, reports CBS Miami.

Bond was reportedly denied Wednesday for 43-year-old Enrique Macotela. Macotela reported his girlfriend Magdalena Weich missing Aug. 18. The two have a four-year-old child.

Macotela told police at the time that Weich had walked to a Barnes & Noble about a mile away from the couple's Coral Springs home, and didn't return home. Her body was found several days later in a wooded area near a high school. Police didn't release a cause of death, but said it appeared the body was "placed" at that location and investigated the case as a homicide.

At the time, Macotela told CBS Miami that he was heartbroken over her disappearance.

"It's hard for me, I love her," he said.

Coral Springs police say surveillance cameras from several businesses captured Macotela's car, with its lights and flashers on, pulling off to the side off the road in the early morning hours of August 19, about 50 feet from where Weich's body was discovered.
