Gregory Noack, 44, was arrested Thursday on murder charges and is awaiting extradition back to Michigan for the death of the 45-year-old. According to authorities, Noack helped lead them to the body of his girlfriend stuffed inside a large suitcase behind a Toys 'R' Us store in northwest Indiana near Chicago.

Fital lived with Noack and her ex-husband at an apartment complex in Pittsfield Township, about 35 miles southwest of Detriot, police said. The 45-year-old, a championship pool player, was reported missing Monday.

Tuesday night police in Merrillville, Ind. contacted Michigan authorities to check on Fital's welfare after they say they found her boyfriend acting suspiciously behind a bank.

Bank employees had found Noack digging a hole in the woods, the Detroit Free Press reports. Investigators reportedly said he was likely planning to hide some of Fital's belongings.

Police believe Noack killed Fital, duct-taped her body and stuffed it into the suitcase, then drove down Interstates 94 and 65 the way to Hobart, Ind., and dumped the suitcase in the pond, the Free Press reported.

According to the Free Press, police believe they know the motive for the killing but would not discuss it.

Pittsfield police said that Noack remains jailed in Indiana's Lake County, where Fital's body was found, and is expected to appear in court there Friday, reports CBS station WWJ.
