A judge has ordered Bobby Brown arrested if he steps foot in Massachusetts after he failed to show up at a hearing Monday over delinquent child support payments.
Brown's attorney tells WCVB-TV that it's a "very difficult time" for the performer.
"He was not available to be arrested because he had other engagements on the West Coast," his attorney Phaedra Parks told The ShowBuzz Monday. Parks said an arrest warrant was issued.
Brown's tumultuous marriage to singer Whitney Houston is coming to an end after she filed for a legal separation last month.
Family Court Judge Paula Carey says whether or not Brown is going through a divorce doesn't negate the fact that he still owes child support to his two children from a prior marriage.
Kim Ward of Stoughton, Mass., says Brown owes eleven-$11,000 for two months of back support. Parks said her client would pony up the money he owes and that "there should not be any further issues concerning this."
Brown has a history of legal troubles with support payments. In June 2004, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison for missing three months of payments.
