Bobby Brown Busted Again
Singer Bobby Brown was back in a Florida jail Thursday after being arrested by U.S. Customs in New Jersey on an outstanding warrant accusing him of violating probation in a drunken-driving case.
Customs spokeswoman Christine Pitz said Brown, who has a home in Mendham, N.J., with wife Whitney Houston, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Newark International Airport after arriving from Nassau, Bahamas.
Brown was returned to Florida on a warrant from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, she said. He was being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.
The warrant was put out on Brown last June, when his probation officer reported to the courts that cocaine showed up in a urine test, that Brown refused to take another urine test and that he didn't return from a trip to Beverly Hills, Calif., on time.
Brown previously told Circuit Judge Leonard Feiner in Fort Lauderdale that the judge had saved his life by putting him on probation and sending him to drug rehab.
Brown will make his first appearance before Feiner May 22, said Lisa Gardner, spokeswoman for Broward Count State Attorney's Office.
The original case developed after Brown smashed his wife's sports car into a condominium sign.
