Blazers' Sabonis To Play In Europe

Portland Trail Blazers center Arvydas Sabonis will play for the Lithuanian national team pending the outcome of the NBA lockout.

Lithuanian Basketball Federation president Algimantas Pavilionis told the Baltic News Service that if the NBA lockout ends, Sabonis would return to Portland.

Sabonis last played for Lithuania's national squad during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, when the team won the bronze medal.

Lithuania's next scheduled game is against Bosnia-Herzogovina on Nov. 25 in a qualifying match for the 1999 European Championships.
