Bikinis, Bandeaus and Jumpsuits Spring Up in New York as YSL Debuts Resort Collection
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) The streets of Manhattan hardly conjure up an image of resort.
But that didn't stop designer Stefano Pilati of Paris-based Yves Saint Laurent from showing his resort collection there this week.

The house, which normally shows its bigger fall and spring collections in Paris, debuted its resortwear on a runway at the Consulate General of France on Fifth Avenue near Central Park.
The outfits are not just for vacations, Pilati said, with many pieces that could be worn in the city and year-round. "I don't have one place in mind the collection can be worn," he said. "I hope it is worn everywhere."
The look oozed YSL with menswear tailoring, chemise dresses, a wide-leg jumpsuit and a structured white coat tipped in black. Prints, including a four-leaf clover and a butterfly motif, were light and lovely, while still sophisticated.
The bandeau tops, in black and white as well as lipstick colors, and bloomer shorts could be imagined on just the sort of well-heeled woman who needs a cruise-resort wardrobe in the middle of winter.
