Bieber to Give Concert to Giving School

A successful canned food drive has won students at a New York middle school a concert by teen pop sensation Justin Bieber.

Officials at Long Beach Middle School in Lido Beach say the 15-year-old Canadian singer will perform at the school sometime in February. They say the Long Island school will be locked down for the student-only concert.

The school bested 149 other New York metropolitan area schools in a November food drive by collecting more than 27,000 pounds (12,250 kilograms) of food.

In November, police shut down an event featuring Bieber signing copies of his debut album, "My World" at a Long Island mall. A crowd of 3,000 young girls and adults began pushing and shoving, sending five people to hospitals with minor injuries.
