Betsey Johnson designs Eloise-inspired Christmas tree for Plaza Hotel

(CBS) Betsey Johnson has teamed up with the Plaza Hotel to design a Christmas tree inspired by the hotel's most famous (fictional) resident.

Eloise, the precocious heroine from Kay Turner's classic 1955 book, is the inspiration for the tree, which will stand in the New York City hotel's Fifth Avenue foyer.

In Turner's book, the pint-sized city girl lives on the Plaza's "tippy top floor" with her Nanny, her dog Weenie and turtle Skipperdee.

Johnson, who also has a holiday pop-up shop in the hotel, will be on hand to light the tree on Nov. 28.

"I absolutely loooove The Plaza, along with Eloise of course!" Johnson said in a statement. "I'll be poppin' in to light the Eloise tree and kick off my Betsey holiday pop-up shop, filled with my favorite stocking stuffers and more. There's something for everybody! Pop in and say hi! XOX Betsey."

This is the second time Johnson and the Plaza have teamed up - in 2010, she designed the hotel's Eloise Suite.
