Best Beauty Buys to Turn Back the Clock

Looking for the fountain of youth? Until you find it, you'll have to make do with anti-aging products. But with so many on the market, you may be wondering, what really works?

On "The Early Show" Wednesday, Melissa Goldstein, beauty director of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, shared all the latest, cutting-edge products to help you turn back the hands of time -- or at least slow them down.

Goldstein said prevention is the best medicine for anti-aging.

She said, "Sunscreen is the best anti-ager out there. ... But as far as anti-aging products, most not only fix damage, but also ward off future damage. To get on a preventative regimen, you can start in your 30s. There are lots of anti-aging products out there, but if you really want to hit the fountain of youth, you have to choose the right products!"

Goldstein then shared these Better Homes and Gardens favorites:

Target Area: All Over Face
Olay Professional Pro-X Intensive Firming Treatment, $52

This was actually just chosen by 50,000 consumers as Better Homes and Gardens Best New Product. It has two products inside -- a serum for day and a mask for night. The mask contains the equivalent of an entire bottle of serum. It will plump and firm your skin. It's a five-day program, so it's not for everyday, but perfect for that special occasion to give you that quick boost of radiance. $52 at Walmart.com.

Zeno Line Rewind Wrinkle Reduction Kit, $40
Most people know the Zeno name from their zit zapping light. Now they've joined the age fit with their latest creation. The Zeno Line Rewind mimics the LED lights dermatologists offer in their offices. The kit includes a peptide and anti-oxidant rich serum that you apply to your skin and then turn on the device which warms up and gently massages the serum into your skin, minimizing wrinkles and sun damage. At-home beauty devices continue to be a huge trend for this year. $40 at Walmart.com.

Target Area: Crows Feet and Under Eyes
Roc Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream, $27

Retinol is the gold standard for wrinkle reduction, but it can be very harsh on sensitive skin -- especially the delicate skin around the eyes, so this little product will create a big wave. This is serious retinol in an irritant-free formula. I consider it a "Miracle in a Bottle!" $27 at Soap.com .

Target Area: Lips/Mouth
Bite Beauty Lipsticks $20-24

The first thing you want in a lip product is really great moisture. You also want good anti-oxidant protection. These lipsticks from Bite Beauty contain resveratrol -- the same antioxidant you find in red wine. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant that comes from the skins of grapes. In fact, the resveratrol content in each tube is equivalent to 5 glasses of red wine! Resveratrol helps reduce wrinkles and the appearance of fine lines. According to Dr. Oz, "It turns on a system in your body that prevents your cells from aging. Now think about it. Where do they grow these grapes? On trees on hillsides, right? It's not a very hospitable environment. So those grapes are sending a signal to us that life might not be so good, so why not turn on that cellular chemistry that you have that allows you to live longer and better? That's why we think this has a benefit."

We're getting a special preview of this item because it's not available until March 2011 for $20-24 at Sephora and Sephora.com. In the meantime, there are other ways to get resveratrol. You can get it in drink form or even in the form of these vitamin chews -- both products from Genesis Today.

Target Area: Eyebrows
TouchBack Brow Marker $20

TouchBack became famous years ago for developing a marker that allowed you to literally color your gray. Their newest product is to cover those grey hairs that pop up in your eyebrows and the felt-tip makes it a really great product for filling in sparse brows as well. $20 on Touchbackbrow.com.

Target Area: Hair
John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo & Conditioner $7 each

We all damage our hair on a daily basis. From coloring and chemicals to blowdrying and straightening, our hair is overworked. John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner contains inca inchi, which is a lightweight omega 3 oil to replenish and infuse life back into your hair. $7 each at Drugstore.com.

(Based on information provided by John Freida) There are other great hair boosting products that can make our hair look fuller, which is a sign of youth. From Living Proof, check out their Full Thickening Mouse ($24). The Full Mousse contains the amazing new technology created by MIT scientists, poly beta amino ester-1 that creates little dots on the hair that act as repelling magnets that make the hair appear thicker. There's also a pre-shampoo treatment from Umberto Beverly Hills. Called Collage Pre-Shampoo Treatment Shampoo ($9.99, sold exclusively at Target,) it's a therapy aimed at repaired the hair from the inside out. The Collagen Pre-Shampoo is formulated to plump the hair cuticle and seal surface of the hair. This is a leave-in treatment that requires only 10 minutes.
