BB gun incident has alleged 10-year-old school shooter headed for Colo. court
(CBS/AP) LAKEWOOD, Colo. - A court date is coming for a 10-year-old boy in suburban Denver who is accused of shooting six classmates with a BB gun.
Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis alleges the fourth-grader at Stein Elementary shot his classmates Monday while the teacher wasn't looking. No serious injuries were reported.
Davis says the boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and launching dangerous missiles that can cause injury, but he was never handcuffed.
Relatives drove the boy to the police department, where he was booked and issued a juvenile summons.
School district officials say bringing a weapon to school results in automatic expulsion.
Davis says the fourth-grader might face community service when he appears in court next month to face the misdemeanor charges.
