"Bathroom emergency" doesn't move judge, Utah man jailed for high-speed chase
(CBS/AP) LOGAN, Utah - A Utah man who led police on a high-speed chase claims he really had to go... but the judge isn't buying it.
Jeffrey Laub told a judge Monday that he ate something that upset his stomach, and he was desperate to get to a rest area in Logan Canyon - hitting speeds of up to 111 mph.
The Herald Journal reports 1st District Judge Thomas Willmore called the explanation "one of the worst stories" he ever heard (didn't he mean a load of c**p?).
He pointed out that Laub passed several outhouses while he led a Utah Highway Patrol trooper on a pursuit last spring that topped 100 mph.
Laub, 39, pleaded guilty in August to failure to stop and impaired driving.
The judge sentenced him to a week in jail.
No word on the toilet facilities there.
