Baseball bat used by N.C. mother to beat back intruders, report says
(CBS/WFMY) Alamance County, N.C. - The mother of three sleeping children grabbed a baseball bat and fought off two intruders after they assaulted her in her home in Alamance County, North Carolina, authorities said.
Jeannie Blouin said two men kicked in the front glass door of her home and started assaulting her, reported CBS affiliate WFMY.
Blouin told WFMY she was able to use the cell phone in her pocket to call friends up the street when the attack started. Her friend and her friend's fiance, came to the rescue. He pulled one of the men off Blouin and that's when she got the chance to grab the bat. Blouin suffered cuts, bumps, and bruises in the attack and says she's had nightmares ever since the attack, according to WFMY.
Her three children, ages 4, 5, and 7, were sleeping at the time, Blouin said.
When officers stopped the suspects' vehicle fleeing after the attack they found two men bleeding from their heads, the station reported.
Richard Guthrie, Jr. and Jeffrey Moore were treated at the hospital and released, then jailed. Both are charged with first degree burglary, assault on a female and injury to personal property. Bond for each was set at $15,000.
