Back Up Your Windows Mobile Phone with Free Dashwire Service

When you sync your Windows Mobile phone with your PC, you're automatically getting a backup of your data. That's good, but Dashwire is better: It automatically backs up everything on your phone -- contacts, text messages, photos, videos, phone settings, and more -- to the Web, where it's accessible from any PC. Best of all, it's a free service.

Getting started is easy enough: You sign up for an account, then install a small sync app on your phone. (Dashwire is available now for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 phones, and coming soon for BlackBerry and Symbian models.) Everything you do on your phone gets automatically updated to the Web.

The service also has some "social" features: It can direct uploaded photos to your Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter accounts or share them with friends via SMS or e-mail. Neat stuff, especially considering the price. Almost makes me wish I had a Windows Mobile phone (but not quite). Peep the video to see Dashwire in action. [via jkOnTheRun]
