Back Up Your E-mail with MailStore Home (Windows)

MailStore Home backs up your e-mail, thus allowing you to clean out your inbox and/or create a searchable archive of your messages.

The program imports mail from all popular clients (plus some you've probably never heard of), including Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, and Windows Live Mail. When it's done (on my system it took about 20 minutes to import a fairly large Outlook database), you can use the MailStore viewer to search messages or burn them to backup CDs or DVDs.

Granted, it would be nice if you could use an external hard drive or network drive for your backup, but on the plus side, CDs and DVDs are cheap and easy to store offsite. What's more, MailStore Home doesn't cost a penny, so it's hard to argue with a limitation or two. If you want a blissfully simple way to back up that all-important inbox, this Windows-only utility is definitely worth the download. [via Computer Shopper]
