Back Up Your Data With Free Comodo Backup (Windows)
We knew Comodo had a killer free firewall (the aptly named Comodo Firewall Pro), but who knew the company offered a free backup utility as well?
Comodo Backup lets you archive specified files and folders to any number of destinations: external and network drives, blank discs, an FTP server, and so on. You can schedule backups to occur automatically at designated times, password-protect your backups, and use Zip compression to save space. The software also offers synchronized backups -- any time you change a file, it gets copied instantly -- and e-mail notifications about backup job status.
Now for the caveats. Comodo Backup doesn't clone entire drives; it's designed expressly for backing up data. And unlike many commercial backup apps (I've long been a fan of Genie Backup Manager), it doesn't help you locate elusive data types, like browser favorites and QuickBooks files. Half the battle in creating effective backups is finding the right data to back up.
That said, if you know where your crucial files reside and want a fast, easy, and free way to make backups, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more feature-packed utility. [via AppScout]
