Austin District Attorney apologizes for DWI arrest

AUSTIN, Texas The Travis County district attorney has apologized after her arrest on a drunken driving charge.

Rosemary Lehmberg said Saturday in a statement that she "deeply" regretted her actions and takes full responsibility.

The statement implied she will not resign.

A 911 caller alerted authorities to a vehicle weaving and crossing into oncoming traffic late Friday.

The Austin American-Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/ZSR1wH ) Lehmberg was booked into the county jail early Saturday after being arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was released hours later.

An arrest affidavit was not clear about whether Lehmberg took a breath test. She did perform a field sobriety test. The affidavit said she told deputies she consumed two vodka drinks earlier in the evening.

The affidavit said her speech was slurred and she was "staggering" when she walked.
