Santiago: Second quarter fumbles by Green and Santiago led to ten second quarter points for the Vikings. UPDATES: 1/11/99 - Falcons look healthy heading to Minnesota Atlanta should have no serious injury problems when they play for the NFC title this Sunday at Minnesota. The only possible concern is the status of corneback Ronnie Bradford's separated shoulder. Despite practicing all week and dressing for the game, Bradford did not play vs. San Francisco. The Falcons expect him to be ready this weekend...Tight end O.J. Santiago and backup safety Devin Bush strained their hamstrings against the 49ers, but the injuries aren't serious and shouldn't keep them out of action. PLAYOFF UPDATE: FALCONS 20, 49ers 18 Stock Rising Jamal Anderson: The running back put the Falcons ahead with two first half touchdowns, and finished with 113 yards on 29 carries. Terrance Mathis and Tony Martin: The M + M boys combined to make nine catches for 134 yards. Stock Falling O.J. Santiago: The tight end made jusone catch for ten yards. Had Atlanta played a first round game, Bradford would have been unlikely to participate. With the bye week, however, he should be able to play this weekend vs. San Francisco. If not, 1996 first round pick Michael Booker would start. Booker started five games for the Falcons earlier this year...Backup linebacker Craig Sauer pulled a hamstring vs. Miami, but is likely to play against the 49ers...Also likely is defensive end Lester Archambeau, who was held out of the Dolphins' game with a fractured left thumb...Quarterback Chris Chandler, who suffered a slight back sprain against Miami, will be full strength when the 49ers come to town. GAMEDAY UPDATES: FALCONS 38, DOLPHINS 16 Stock Rising Jamal Anderson: The leader of the "Dirty Birds" bruised his way to 103 yards and a touchdown. Tony Martin: Martin continued his big play tendencies - catching a 35-yard touchdown bomb to go with his 105 yards receiving overall. OJ Santiago: The tight end made only two catches but both went for touchdowns [a 62-yard bomb and a three-yard catch]. Stock Falling Terrance Mathis: Mathis made only one catch for ten yards. Injuries: Quarterback Chris Chandler left the game with a back injury and was replaced by Steve Deberg. The injury is not considered serious, however, and Chandler could probably have returned if the game meant anything to Atlanta. Notes: Deberg played decently in place of Chandler, completing five of ten passes for 85 yards with a touchdown..Cornerback Ronnie Bradford returned an interception eleven yards for a touchdown. |
