15 arrests during annual N.J. St. Patrick's day pub crawl
HOBOKEN, N.J. -- More than a dozen people were arrested and 35 others, including two police officers, were hospitalized during Hoboken's annual St Patrick's Day pub crawl, reports CBS New York.
Police say the officers were run over by a man trying to flee the scene of a fight. A total of 54 tickets were issued during the event, mostly for public drinking, according to police.
Hoboken police reportedly responded to 432 calls from service from 8 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday during the event, also known as LepreCon. Although, the number of hospitalizations and tickets issued were down from last year, the arrest total was up, according to the station.
Police say a man, allegedly involved in a fight at a fast food restaurant early Sunday morning, fled from from the scuffle, and ran over two officers. Both officers suffered dislocated shoulders and were released after receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, reports CBS New York.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Christopher Smallwood of Pennsylvania, turned himself in before noon Sunday, police say.
Smallwood was then charged with aggravated assault, according to the station.
