Are My Sites Up? Adds Push to iPhone App

Remember Are My Sites Up?, the service that helps IT managers keep tabs on site status? Sure would be great if it could send notifications without racking up SMS charges.

Well, now it can: The latest version of the Are My Sites Up iPhone app [iTunes link] supports push. In other words, it delivers text message-style site updates without relying on pricey text messages. Doesn't matter if the app is running or not; you'll get your notifications.

The app remains free, but there's also a new Lite version [iTunes link] that works with the service's freebie plan.

If you want push, however, you'll need the full app and one of AMSU's premium plans (which start at $35 per year -- a bit higher than when we first looked at the service).

Of course, for any business that lives and dies by its Web site(s), even the $95/year Pro plan is small potatoes. Definitely worth a look.
