Another Celebrity Endorsement for Huckabee

TRAVELER'S REST, S.C. -- Standing on the well manicured lawns of the Cliffs Valley country club, Mike Huckabee received the endorsement of bass fisherman - and the founder of the BASS tournament - Ray Scott.
"I think every kid oughta be able to access the outdoors and hopefully it would never become just the domain of people who have the capacity to be in a very exclusive hunting or fishing club," Huckabee said.
When a reporter asked why he was making such a statement at an exclusive venue, Huckabee said it was "simply" because they had just wrapped up a fundraiser.
"Originally the plan was to go out on a lake -- Hartwell Lake here in South Carolina and actually go fishing -- I thought 2 or 3 hours sounded good to me -- just to get a little break from the campaign," Huckabee said. But "there were so many activities we're trying to get to today in these final days that the campaign staff did not feel that several hours on a lake, me fishing was as good a use of the time as it was to simply come a few feet away from where we were already having an event."
Both Scott and Huckabee were named among the top 25 most influential people in hunting and fishing by Outdoor Life Magazine, which the cowboy hat wearing Scott pointed out right away.
"This man is my man," said Scott.
