Anna Gristina, accused "Manhattan Madam," due in court Thursday

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - Anna Gristina, accused "Manhattan Madam" will appear in court today to face charges that she ran a high-end escort service in Manhattan for 15 years. Her alleged accomplice Jaynie Baker will not be joining her.

Gristina, 44, was due in court Thursday in her promoting-prostitution case. Co-defendant Jaynie Baker's court appearance was postponed as part of a deal Baker made with prosecutors, a source told The Associated Press under condition of anonymity.

Defense lawyer Norman Pattis says Gristina intends to go to trial, and he doesn't believe Baker has any information that could harm her.

Prosecutors said Gristina was the madam of an upscale sex service for 15 years, making millions of dollars and boasting of contacts in law enforcement who could tip her off if she was about to get busted. She pleaded not guilty to promoting prostitution, a low-level felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, saying that she was merely starting a matchmaking service and not peddling prostitutes.

She's asked a judge to dismiss the case.
