"America's Got Talent" returns with YouTube night
(CBS News) After an Olympic hiatus, NBC's "America's Got Talent" returned with YouTube night.
"I gotta tell you, Nick, it's been two weeks," Howard Stern said Tuesday night. "Those Olympics went on and on and on. I'm ready to judge."
Pictures: "America's Got Talent" semifinalistsTuesday night's episode featured 12 YouTube acts battling out for a place in the semifinals.
The judges, though, weren't very impressed. At one point, Stern asked, "Whose idea was it to have a YouTube show?"
The acts ranged from pop-rock band Reverse Order and magician Rudy Coby, to Clint Carvalho and his Extreme Parrots, which included his cockatoo named Kitten.
Through it all, Sharon Osbourne could be found in the judge's seat despite reports of her leaving the show. She has been quoted as saying that she's ditching the series because she thinks NBC discriminated against her son, Jack, by not allowing him on its "Stars Earns Stripes" show after learning about his multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
In the end, Academy of Villains stole the show Tuesday night. The San Francisco-based hip hop dance group managed to impress the judges with a routine to "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
"Finally, finally. I tell you, it's been a tough one tonight, but finally we got you," a pleased Osbourne told the dance troupe.
"America's Got Talent" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET and Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. Tonight's show will feature the YouTube elimination round.
