"American Idol" winner Kris Allen welcomes first child

It's a boy for "American Idol" winner Kris Allen.

The singer and wife Katy welcomed a baby boy named Oliver Neil on Tuesday.

Allen, 28, shared the news with his fans via Twitter:

His rep also told Us Weekly, "Little Oliver Neil Allen is here! He's 7 pounds, 7 ounces, 20 3/4 inches long. Mom and baby are doing great."

The season 8 "Idol" winnerannounced his wife's pregnancy in January, after the couple was involved in a head-on collision that left him with a broken wrist.

"Yes, I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby," he tweeted at the time.

Oliver is the first child for Allen and his high school sweetheart, who married in 2008.
