"American Idol:" Aaron Kelly Out

Aaron Kelley was the latest contestant that fell victim to the fickle voters and was sent home on Wednesday night's episode of "American Idol."

Kelly, a high school student from Pennsylvania, earned high remarks from the judges after singing "Fly Me to the Moon" on Tuesday night's Frank Sinatra-themed episode. Judge Randy Jackson dubbed it as a solid performance and Ellen DeGeneres said she expected to see him compete next week.

But the voters thought otherwise and his fans were unable to keep him around.

"I've had a great time. I've had a blast," said a surprised Kelly after hearing his fate.

The "Idol" Finale

Michael "Big Mike" Lynche joined Kelly in the bottom two, and narrowly avoided elimination for a second week in a row even after the judges were extremely pleased with his rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight."

Surprisingly, Casey James survived elimination despite an awkward performance that no one appreciated, even himself.

Attempting to perform without his guitar, James delivered a weak interpretation of "Blue Skies." However, his fan base pulled through and he was safe along with Crystal Bowersox.

Audience members and viewers were given a special treat with a performance by Lady Gaga, who sang her latest hit single, "Alejandro," a song dedicated to her fans.

Harry Connick Jr. was the the other guest performance. He sang "And I Love Her" off his latest album.

Next week, the four remaining finalists will be mentored by singer-actor Jamie Foxx and will perform movie-themed songs.
