Alabama Gov. Candidate Tim James Wants Sex Offenders to Re-Register Every 90 Days

Last we checked in with Republican Tim James, who is hoping to become Alabama governor, it was to showcase his ad proclaiming that "We speak English. If you want to live here, learn it." (Watch it below.)

That ad was focused on the issue of giving drivers license examines in other languages, a racially-charged issue that CBS News Chief Political Correspondent Marc Ambinder noted was "not the type of thing that voters in Alabama would care about unless someone deigned to bring it to their attention."

Now James is out with a new ad. In it, he suggests that despite the fact that "some politicians" think it might "inconvenience" sex offenders to have to re-register every 90 days, he believes the state should force them to do so.

James says he "wants the state to keep their eye on" sex offenders, a desire he ties to the fact that he is a businessman.

The spot, which you can watch above, opens with James noting that he and his wife have three kids. "How about you?" he asks.

James then says sex offenders should have to re-register "face to face" roughly every three months. The spot closes with James' catchphrase: "Makes sense to me. Does it to you?"

A poll conducted for the James campaign shows James leading in a wide-open primary contest that also includes "Ten Commandments" judge Roy Moore. The primary is on June 1st.
