(CBS/AP) - A grand jury may be convened to consider more serious charges in the death of the 2-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Tyrese Robert Doohan died Friday after being hospitalized with severe head injuries.

Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, has already been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery in the case. Patterson is the boyfriend of the child's mother.

Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman says he will review the completed autopsy report along with other reports before seeking any new charges against Patterson.

Prosecutors are also asking that a suspended sentence be imposed for a previous domestic assault conviction against Patterson.

A message left for Patterson's attorney was not immediately returned.

Peterson has declined to discuss the relationship he had with the boy.
