Add Outlook to Your Desktop

outlook-on-the-desktop2.jpgRemember Outlook on the Desktop, the incredibly handy freeware utility that lets you add your Outlook inbox, contacts, calendar, and more to your Windows desktop? The author has made a few minor but appreciable updates since last we looked at it, and relocated it to a new home on the Web.

To refresh your memory, OOTD embeds a fully interactive Outlook window on your desktop so your information is more readily accessible. You can adjust the window's size, location, and opacity, and you can move it to a second monitor if you have one. The latest version (1.4.0) lets you have multiple instances of OOTD pinned to the desktop: inbox here, calendar there, and so on. You can also select any Outlook folder to view, including shared and public folders.

Outlook on the Desktop remains free, though the author gladly accepts donations (and if you like the program, be cool and show your appreciation with a few bucks). It still requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, which the installer will fetch for you if it's not already installed on your system. [via Confessions of a freeware junkie]
