Add Macro Support to OpenOffice with Groovy
I frequently recommend open-source office suite OpenOffice (say that five times fast) as a free alternative to Microsoft Office, but with one caveat: It doesn't support macros. If that's deal-breaker for you, you'll be glad to know about Groovy for OpenOffice, an extension that adds macro-writing capabilites. It won't let you run Word macros in OpenOffice, but it will let you create new macros for use within OpenOffice. After you install the extension, you can check out same sample macros in this ODT file. Just be prepared: There's little to no support for this, so you may need to call on your local IT guru for help. [via Lifehacker]
