Aaron Hernandez soon to transfer to Boston prison

BOSTON - Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, who has pleaded not guilty to three murder charges, will be moved to a new jail in Boston on Wednesday as he awaits trial, reports CBS Boston.

Hernandez was in court Wednesday afternoon in Fall River, Mass., according to the station. The appearance regarded his lawyers' request for a subpoena to compel the New England Patriots to hand over Hernandez's medical and other records.

After the hearing, the ex-Patriot was scheduled to move from the Bristol County House of Correction in North Dartmouth to the Nashua Street Jail in Boston, the station reports. A judge approved the request Monday so that Hernandez could have easier access to his Boston-based attorneys.

Hernandez's attorneys said last month the Patriots' records on their client are potentially relevant to the former NFL player's circumstances and state of mind and are critical to preparations for his murder trial.

The suspect has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée. Two of his associates have also been charged with murder.

Hernandez has also pleaded not guilty in a second case in which he is charged with killing two men in Boston in 2012. He is being held without bail.
