A Classic Poem For Christmas
For more than 100 years, generations of children have enjoyed listening to their parents read the classic poem, "The Night Before Christmas."
Robert Sabuda, who is known for breathing new life into children's classic literature with his pop-up books, did so with "The Night Before Christmas Pop-Up."
His newest pop-up book is an abridged version of Lewis Carroll's tale, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." But for Christmas morning at The Early Show, we asked him to read the old Christmas poem to the children from Holy Rosary Academy in Union, N.J.
Sabuda says he conceived the idea for his pop-up books when he was working as a picture book author and illustrator. He taught himself to make crafted books. The bookmaker made his first pop-up book almost a decade ago.
One of the classic stories that Sabuda has made into a pop-up is "The Wizard of Oz." He said in one interview that he doesn't have a preference for working on a particular type of book, as long as he is interested in the story or subject.
Sabuda's next book will be titled, "America the Beautiful."
"The Night Before Christmas" was originally written in 1822 by Clement Clarke Moore as a present for his children.
