5 Quick Tips for Customizing Outlook
I spend more time with Outlook than I do with my own family. Microsoft's scheduling program is the cornerstone of my day, and if the statistics are reliable, that's true for over 90% of you as well. Want to get to know your most-used program a little better? Here are five simple tips, courtesy of Microsoft's Outlook Blog, that can pay big dividends in helping you save a little time throughout the day.
Display several days side-by-side in the calendar. To see several days in the same view, just click and drag the days you want in the date picker -- that small calendar in the upper left corner of the screen. Pro tip: To compare days from different months, you can make a selection and then click the arrow to move to the next month.
Quickly switch the calendar to Monthly View. Remember this keyboard shortcut: ALT + EQUAL SIGN. This will switch you to the monthly view instantly.
See calendar details when in the Monthly View. When you're in the Month view, go to the ribbon and on the Home tab, in the Arrange group, select Month. Click the arrow below it, and then choose what level of detail you'd like to see-low, medium or high.
Change an appointment into an all-day event. This one is surprisingly easy -- just drag an appointment to the day heading at the top of the Day view. It'll instantly become an all-day event.
Change the time periods in the Calendar grid. You can change the default setting to 5-, 10-, 15-, or even 60-minute time slots. Right-click the Calendar, click Other Settings, and then click the number you want from the Time Scale list.
