$365M Powerball Winner Going Public

The $365 million mystery that has puzzled the nation and excited locals in Lincoln, Neb. will apparently be solved at a news conference this morning.

"All I can say is we have the ticket. We have the winning ticket," confirms a spokesman for the Nebraska lottery, Tom Johnson.

"I hope it's somebody who can benefit from what they won and maybe help others out too," one interested Lincoln-ite remarked to CBS News correspondent Bianca Solorzano.

It's the biggest North American lottery jackpot ever.

The quick pick was purchased Saturday afternoon at a U-Stop convenience store in Lincoln, and Solorzano has been told the winner is from the Cornhusker state capital.

Ever since the drawing, Solorzano adds, the rumors, hoaxes and speculations have gone on nonstop.

"Until they actually sign it and show up, I'm not going to believe anything," says the owner of the U-Stop store, Mick Mandl.

"The most credible insight from sources we spoke with," Solorzano reports, "has the winners as a group of eight co-workers from a ConAgra Foods plant who work a mix of second and third shifts."

"It's all everyone's been talking about" at the plant," she adds.

"So, it's a group of people?" Solorzano asked someone at the facility.

"Yeah, a group of eight people," came the reply.

Some of them havne't been back to work since the drawing, Solorzano points out.

"You wouldn't blame them if they don't come back?" she asked.

"No," was the response. "I'm just happy for them."

The payout could come as a lump sum of $124.1 million after taxes.

No doubt, Solorzano says, the winners have already found legal and financial advice, and are now ready to think about how they're going to start spending the money.

"The winners seem to be very interested in holding the news conference; they want to bring things out in the open," lottery spokesman Johnson says.

Solorzano ran into some of the winners at a Lincoln hotel, and says they ran away, saying they weren't ready to talk just yet.
