10-year-old Philly boy shoots self while playing with gun

(CBS)PHILADELPHIA- A 10-year-old boy shot himself in the hand while playing with a gun at a playground in West Philadelphia on Sunday, CBS Philly reports.

The incident happened around 3:00 p.m. in the Cobbs Creek section of the city. The boy was playing with the gun when it discharged and struck him in the left thumb, police say.

The boy was hospitalized at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he was treated and released.

It is not clear where the boy got the gun.
