Fort Lauderdale has been working on drainage issues in Edgewood. They spent $14.5 million laying a new stormwater pipe.
In Wednesday night's State of the City Address, Mayor Trantalis plans to introduce the "Fortify Lauderdale" plan — it has elements that address stormwater infrastructure in 17 neighborhoods, including Edgewood.
Some residents affected by historic floods in Fort Lauderdale are frustrated and desperate.
Record rainfall of more than 25 inches last week in Fort Lauderdale lead to flooding that caused major damage to 279 homes in the Edgewood area, according to a city spokeswoman.
