TAMARAC (CBSMiami) – A man is being questioned by police after he said he accidentally shot his wife inside their home.

The call came in, according to Broward Sheriff's Office, around 6:38 AM from a home in the Tuscany Neighborhood of Tamarac.

"When deputies arrived on scene they found a female victim who had been shot in her bedroom," Gina Carter with BSO said.

According to police, 35-year-old Jason Browdy told authorities he had accidentally shot his wife, 33-year-old Monique Browdy, in the head as she lay in their bed.

The woman, who police say was shot in the face, was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 1:11 PM.

The couple, according to the victim's Facebook page, were married a few months ago and displays photos of what appears to be a happy couple.

Jason Browdy, according to police, is being questioned by detectives as they investigate the suspicious death.

BSO said Jason Browdy has been arrested before; in 2008 on a domestic violence charge as well as traffic issues.

Neighbors in the area are on edge after learning of the fatal shooting.

"Scared. Scared because this is a pretty quiet neighborhood and I have three kids here, my cat and it's pretty quiet. We have a bunch of kids here," said Patricia Gleason.
