Woman Charged In Death Of Child Found Inside Van In Homestead
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A woman has been charged with the death of a child who was found inside a van Friday in Homestead.
It happened at 816 Northwest and 3rd Avenue.
Police have arrested Juana Perez-Domingo, 43, who is accused of leaving a child inside a van for hours.
Perez-Domingo, 43, is facing a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.
She appeared before a judge Saturday.
It was still daylight when the child was found dead. Police have not identified the minor.
Bond was set at $50,000, and no attorney was listed for the woman.
Police say Perez-Domingo was supposed to drive the 2-year-old girl to daycare in Homestead early Friday morning. She drove the girl to her own home first — the daycare wasn't open yet — and then got distracted and forgot about the child until returning to the vehicle seven hours later.
A Miami-Dade police report says Perez-Domingo called the child's mother and then drove her to the mother's house. The child had died by then.
Police say Perez-Domingo also had no driver's license.
