MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A 22-year-old woman was attacked early Tuesday morning while jogging in Marathon.

The woman said she was on the bike path on Knight's Key headed toward the old Seven Mile Bridge when a man grabbed her from behind. She said she yelled, screamed for help and was able to fight him off.

She was able to escape and hid in some nearby bushes. When it became light, she came out of hiding and approached another jogger who called for help.

"This is a very unusual crime for our county. Attacks like this one don't happen often here," said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. "We want to urge anyone who knows anything about this crime to come forward as soon as possible. We have a safe community and we would like to keep it that way by catching this man and putting him in jail."

The woman, who suffered minor injuries, was only able to give detectives a sketchy description of her assailant. She said he was about 5'9" tall with a thin build, wearing a long sleeve T-shirt and shorts and his face was covered.
