What Would You Do With The $425 Million Powerball Jackpot?

MIAMI (CBS4) - The Powerball jackpot has increased to about $425 million after nobody matched all the numbers in Saturday night's drawing.

The jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is the largest in the history of the multi-state lotto game.

The previous top Powerball prize was $365 million, won back in 2006 by workers in Nebraska.

This time, South Floridians hope they're the lucky ones.

That got us at CBS 4 News wondering, "What would you do with all that cash?"

For the frugal multi-millionaire, you can load up on plenty of stuff from the Dollar Star store in Hialeah, where dozens of items from dishwashing liquid to duct tape run just 99 cents.

At $148,000 a pop, you can buy yourself a Maserati from The Collection car dealership in Coral Gables. Plus, you can slap a big red bow on 2,800 more and you're guaranteed to be everyone's favorite Santa Claus this year.

If you planned to fly to grandma's house this Christmas, forget booking a flight. You can buy a private jet! A brand new Gulfstream G550 costs about $50 million, not including maintenance and fuel.

For those who fancy themselves franchise owners, consider buying a sports team with the winnings.

Forbes valued the Miami Marlins at $450 million back in March 2012.

But in light of the recent fire sale, where multiple players were traded to the Toronto Blue Jays leaving fans upset with owner Jeffrey Loria, maybe you can get a discount to the tune of $25 million.

Of course, you don't have to buy anything at all. You can give your money away to charity.

Consider RedCross.org, SalvationArmy.org, or Neighbors4Neighbors.org when making your charitable contributions this year.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 175 million.

The $425 million record jackpot could be raised before Wednesday's drawing since big payouts tend to boost sales.

The Powerball numbers for Saturday were 22-32-37-44-50, and the Powerball was 34.

The current cash value of the jackpot is $278.3 Million.
