Vice President Joe Biden Considering Presidential Run?

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The primary race for Democrats could be getting even more interesting as reports that Vice President Joe Biden will run for president in 2016 are picking up steam.

If Biden does run, it would shake things up in the relatively small race for the Democratic Party nomination.

Vice President Biden is considering a run for the White House, sources tell CBS News, but a final decision isn't expected for at least another month.

"The question for Biden is, is where does he fit in in terms of the Democratic primary? So, he is pretty much as much establishment as Hillary Clinton is, and so, he couldn't come in and be the anti-establishment candidate," said CBS News Senior Political Editor Steve Chaggaris.

Aides have reportedly been talking to party leaders and donors after Biden's son Beau urged him to run for president before his death last May.

While Biden weighs his options, Hillary Clinton's campaign is moving forward. Clinton's first TV commercials begin airing this week in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

"I think Joe Biden is a wonderful human being, a great Vice President and a friend, but I'm a Hillary supporter," said Sen. Chuck Schumer.

Biden is currently third in the polls behind Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

"Well I've known Joe Biden for many years and I'm very fond of Joe. But I think the American people who are seeing the middle class of this country disappearing want to go beyond conventional establishment politics," said Sanders.
