WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBSMiami) -- The U.S. Capitol was placed on a brief lockdown Friday morning.
CBSNews reported those inside the building were told to "take shelter" sometime around 9 a.m.
Crews were reportedly searching for a "person of interest."
Police were seen outside the building and were not letting people enter the U.S. Capitol.
Just before 9:45 a.m., the lockdown was lifted. It is unclear if someone had been taken into custody.
The House met briefly in the morning but recessed immediately after hearing news of the lockdown.
