Information Sought In Case Of Missing Pines Man
PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) -Che Beckford told his mother on Friday afternoon that he was on his way to get tires put on her car.
But he never made it from his Pembroke Pines home to the auto repair shop in Davie. He's been missing since.
For his mother, Charmaine, not knowing what happened to her only son is "hell."
"I can't sleep," she told CBS 4's Carey Codd. "I won't eat until I have my son. I'm not eating anything until I get him back."
With a Bible on her coffee table and her twin sister by her side, Charmaine is praying that someone will recognize her son and call police with information about where he is.
Charmaine said last Friday began like a regular day. Her son took her to work and headed back home to get ready for his class at Nova Southeastern University. She said a neighbor saw him back home and walking his dog at 12:30 pm. Charmaine spoke to him at 1:57 pm. That's when he said he was headed to to the auto store for tires.
"The car is gone and he's gone and we can't find him at all," Charmaine said. "And every effort is exhausted and nothing. Absolutely nothing."
Charmaine said her son is "not a partying kid. His habits are very simple," she said. He particularly loves working out and running with his dog. Che plans to be a personal trainer after he finishes earning his business degree.
She said Che left his cellphone, wallet and credit cards at home. She said there was no reason for him to leave.
For now, time has stopped for this mother, wondering where her son is.
"It's hard," she said. "I don't know what's happening. I don't know if he's out in the cold, I don't know where he is. We can't find him."
Charmaine said Che was driving a 2009 silver Nissan Sentra with license plate W827DG. The vehicle has a Nova Southeastern University sticker on the back and side view mirrors that are different colors. If anyone has any information on Beckford's whereabouts, they are urged to call Pembroke Pines Police at 954-252-4999.
Police do not believe foul play is likely but Charmaine fears the worst.
"I don't know how somebody can be so monstrous, if somebody has him that's ridiculous," she said.
Charmaine knows that her son was home one day, participating in a late night conversation about life and gone the next day. She just wants to see him walk through the front door -- safe and sound.
"The puzzle doesn't fit," she said. "None of the pieces and we're not sure. It's too many thoughts and theories. We're just not sure."
