Teen Shot In Miami Drive-By Dies From Injuries

MIAMI – A South Florida teen who was in innocent bystander in a drive-by shooting in Miami has died from her injuries three weeks after the shooting that also left two others dead and fourth person injured.

Jaykia Pitts had been hospitalized at Jackson Memorial Hospital since the July 17th shooting where three gunmen with a high-powered assault rifle opened fire on a group of people about 12:30 a.m. at the corner of NW 54th Street and 5th Avenue. Pitts lost a leg in the shooting before losing her life.

A total of four people were shot. Two men, Rudolph Sawyer, 23, and Demetrius Owens, 29, died at the scene. The condition of the fourth victim is not known.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting however police did recover a getaway car. It was stolen.
