Sweetwater Moves Forward With Tax Break For Disabled Veterans
SWEETWATER (CBSMiami) — The city of Sweetwater unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance that would give a tax benefit to disabled veterans, Monday night.
The tax break would be an additional discount on their home property taxes and will apply to municipal taxes on top of a discount already given by the Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser's office.
The discount will be equal to the percentage of a combat-related disability as determined by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The widow or widower of a service member can also benefit from this exemption.
Mayor Manny Maroño proposed the ordinance to give extra help to those who served our country.
