Storms Roll Through South Florida

DORAL (CBSMiami) - Mother Nature decided to send the week off with a bang across South Florida Friday afternoon.

Severe storms pounded parts of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties Friday. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued and heavy rains poured over the area sparking flood advisories.

In Doral, hail rained down on drivers near the intersection of Doral Boulevard and the Palmetto Expressway.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue videographer Robert Hernandez captured the video below as the storm dumped what he said to be golf-ball sized hail in Doral.

Trees were also reported down in parts of Doral as a storm passed over around 2 p.m.

In Broward County, spotters reported quarter-sized to half-dollar sized hail in Lighthouse Point.

Thunderstorms are expected to slowly move away as the evening goes on, but it could be the same story on Saturday as storms are possible after 8 a.m.
