Star Sightings: Ultra & Winter Music Conference

MIAMI (CBS4) – It was a big couple of weekends for music in Miami.

The two weekend Ultra Music Festival and the Winter Music Conference (WMC) converged on South Florida at the same time. Ultra, in its 15th year, marked its success with a $4 million stage at Bayfront Park.

For those in attendance it was all about electronic dance music (EDM), or nightclub music, becoming mainstream.

"The DJ's have become these super producers. Years ago they would sit up and just deejay, now they are producing the music while they are deejaying," said photographer Seth Browarnik with World Red Eye.

So who were some of the stars spotted around town during Ultra and WMC.

Browarnik captured Swedish House Mafia at a private dinner at The Dutch. He shot a picture he calls "SHM's Last Supper" since they announced they were retiring.

Snoop Lion, formally known as Snoop Dog, performed at Ultra and at Bamboo.

"He performed two days at Ultra and then he performed at Bamboo with Ne-Yo and Flo Rida," said Browarnik.

Over at Liv, Browarnik photographed British superstar Ellie Golden with uber-deejays Afrojack and Calvin Harris. Arguably the best shot has to be with former Guns and Roses guitarist Slash performing with DJ Chuckie. Slash is an 80's rocker doing what it takes to stay current.

"They are trying to bring in new fans. It's smart. EDM is the rock and roll of this generation. If you're not in it, you're getting left out," said Browarnik.

"As far as I'm concerned this is the best thing for Miami Beach" he added. "Art Basel, WMC, Ultra. This is the growth of the city. It's what our city needs to become to (reach) the next level."
