Sightseeing Duck Trolley Catches Fire On MacArthur Causeway

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Problems for passengers on board a Pirate Duck Tour Friday afternoon when their amphibious Trolley Duck caught fire.
"When we turned around, we saw a whole lot of smoke," said Jill Jones.
B.J. and Jill Jones, who were sitting in the middle of the bus boat, said they had just gotten off the water and onto the MacArthur Causeway when their upbeat tour guide suddenly turned very serious.
"She yelled get off now and the floor was melting," said B.J. Jones. "It was scary, yeah."
As everyone started, piling out the Joneses said it was tough to see.
"Black smoke started filling the cabin," she said. "We had to go through the smoke to find the stairs."
Video from Chopper 4 shows the trolley pulled over to the side of the MacArthur Causeway surrounded by foam, the back half of the vehicle black and charred from a fire. A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue vehicle nearby.
Video from social media shows the bus engulfed in flames.
No one was hurt and a second sightseeing bus was brought to the scene so passengers from the burnt out trolley could be brought back to Miami Beach.
According to their website, the Pirate Duck Tour is a sightseeing amphibious bus allowing passengers to see the sights of Miami from the streets and the water.
No word yet on what caused this amphibious bus to catch fire.
Eastbound traffic on the MacArthur Causeway is backed up and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
