Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon, On Brink Of Tennis History

WIMBLEDON (CBSMiami) – A year ago, Serena Williams made an early exit at Wimbledon – losing in the third round. But in 2015 she was the last woman standing, and now on the brink of tennis history.
Williams took to London's famous court like a Queen coming to collect what belongs to her.
And when the ball was in play it was clear Williams wasn't playing around.
Her groundstrokes were intimidating.
Her court-covering defense was hypnotic, and of course there was that famous battle cry.
Despite eight double faults, Williams' 120-mph returns were too fast for her opponent, Spain's Garbine Muguruza.
With the 6-4, 6-4 victory, comes another big win.
Williams now holds the world's four Grand Slam titles in a single year – an achievement dubbed the "Serena Slam."
Now she has her sights set on the U.S. Open.
"I've done well in New York so far, but worst case scenario I have another Serena Slam," she said.
Williams has an impressive overall record 21-4, including 6-2 at Wimbledon and just one Grand Slam win shy of Steffi Graf.
If Williams does in fact win at the U.S. Open, it will be the first time a player sweeps all four majors in the same the season since Graf accomplished the feat in 1988.
