Dan Campbell is the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins but other significant changes were made just under him with special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi tacking on assistant head coach to his special teams coordinator duties.
"You hit the one word there--competitive," Rizzi said on the Joe Rose Show. "That's the one thing when Dan took over and we sat down, that's really the one word that he's really trying to drive home here with the guys. He's trying to make everything in this building a competition, everything in practice a competition and I think really just up the sense of urgency."
What changes have been made?
"We haven't gotten off to good starts. We're 37-3 in the first quarter," Rizzi said. "That's really I think the first step. We have to come out of the gate. We got to start better and I think everybody knows that as a team and our driving force right now with the players is getting off to a better start in all three phases.
"We have to set the tempo in all three phases here as we start the game. That's gonna be crucial."
